The brothers of Delta Kappa have taken it upon themselves to raise awareness for two organizations by creating a chapter philanthropy. Each organization that we support has had an effect on one of us personally and we strive the do the best that we can to give back to these organizations with our efforts.
National Philanthropy: Tau Delta Phi’s nationally known philanthropy, Active Minds, is a growing non-profit organization seeking to raise awareness towards mental health. Active Minds was created by Alison Malmon, a student at Penn State, in the summer of 2003. Because of Alison’s efforts there are currently over 400 chapters nation wide on campus raising mental awareness everyday. We also support Stockton’s Active Minds Club which has recently been established through the efforts of Stockton’s students.
Chapter Philanthropy: People Against Distracted Driving (PADD) was founded by Mike Kellenyi in July of 2012. PADD’s motives are to create awareness so people don’t distracted drive. Mike lost his youngest daughter Nikki due to a distracted driver and has made the promise along with friends and family to do their best to make sure no one has to go through what they did. PADD is also known as Nikki’s Foundation and is making great strides across the Nation on raising awareness towards this movement.
